Liam Lawson Has as Many Points as Five Entire Teams Combined

Through Baku, Lawson’s 59 points match Haas, Audi, Williams, Aston Martin and Cadillac combined, built across two teams without a single podium.

As of October 2, 2026. Championship totals through the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, before Sepang. Sprint points included throughout.

Liam Lawson sits ninth in the drivers’ championship. Add together the bottom five teams in the constructors’ standings, and they land on exactly the same number as him: 59 points.

That’s one driver’s season total matching the combined return from ten cars.

Five teams. The same 59 points.

The calculation comes directly from the official standings:

Haas: 27 points
Audi: 17 points
Williams: 12 points
Aston Martin: 3 points
Cadillac: 0 points

Combined: 59 points. Lawson: 59 points.

These are the teams occupying seventh through eleventh in the constructors’ championship. Both sides of the comparison include points earned in Grands Prix and Sprints.

Haas accounts for almost half of the five-team total. At the other end, Aston Martin and Cadillac have just three points between them.

Two teams built Lawson’s total

Lawson’s current Racing Bulls listing doesn’t tell the whole story.

He scored 45 points with Racing Bulls and another 14 during three weekends with Red Bull. Seventh in the Netherlands brought six points, Italy produced none, and sixth in Spain added eight.

The larger contribution still came from Racing Bulls. His best Grand Prix finish was fifth in Monaco, worth ten points. He also finished sixth at Silverstone and seventh in China and Canada.

Across the first 15 Grands Prix, he finished in the points ten times. His total grew through repeated finishes between fifth and ninth, with Sprint points adding to the return.

What the comparison tells us

The wider standings put that equality in perspective. Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull hold 1,485 of the 1,695 constructors’ points recorded through Baku, or 87.6%.

That leaves seven teams sharing the remaining 12.4%. Racing Bulls and Alpine have collected most of those.

The equality doesn’t establish that Lawson is better than the ten drivers at those five teams. Cars and opportunities differ. It does show how much repeated scoring finishes can add up in a season when the leading teams have taken such a large share.

Lawson hasn’t needed a podium to match five constructors. Ten points finishes have done most of the work.
