GAME RE-OPENS AHEAD OF THE BELGIAN GP QUALIFYING WEEKEND.
BRITISH GP RACE WRAP. Next stop: Belgian GP.
Leclerc ends the drought. Silverstone turns on Lap 41.
  • Silverstone gave Ferrari another huge moment, but not in the way most people expected. Charles Leclerc delivered the British GP win after a long wait, finally putting together the kind of Sunday Ferrari needed from him.
  • Leclerc launched perfectly, cleared the early chaos, and kept the race under control while everything behind him kept shifting. It was not a calm race, but he made the front look calm.
  • Antonelli looked like the driver who might steal it back. After stretching his first stint and stopping on Lap 36, he started hunting Leclerc down and had the gap moving in the right direction.
  • Then Silverstone did what Silverstone does. Just after Lap 40, Antonelli reported that something was wrong, Mercedes found an issue around the left-front wheel shield, and the race that looked like a possible win turned into two extra stops, a penalty, and no points.
  • That was the biggest championship moment of the day. Antonelli was flying, then suddenly he was fighting the car instead of fighting Leclerc.
  • Max Verstappen’s race ended in the gravel at Stowe on Lap 48, bringing out the late Safety Car and removing the final fight everyone wanted to see.
  • Hamilton had the home crowd with him, but the late Safety Car phase hurt him. Ferrari pitted both cars, Russell stayed out, and that was enough for George to jump Hamilton for second.
  • So the final podium became Leclerc, Russell, Hamilton — Ferrari on top, Mercedes taking the big points, and Hamilton left with another Silverstone podium but not the P2 that looked possible.
  • The ending was not ideal. Nobody wanted this one to finish behind the Safety Car, especially with soft tires ready and a potential final-lap sprint sitting right there.
  • Lando Norris finished fourth for McLaren, Hadjar added another strong Red Bull result in fifth, and Racing Bulls had a big day with Lawson and Lindblad sixth and seventh.
  • Bortoleto grabbed important points for Audi, while Alpine put both Colapinto and Gasly into the top 10. Piastri’s race fell apart early after damage, and Antonelli was classified down in P16 after the late issues and penalty.
  • Next stop is Belgium. Spa is the next test, and after Silverstone, the championship suddenly feels a lot less settled.
Leclerc ends the drought. Silverstone turns on Lap 41.
  • Charles Leclerc finally got the British GP win, giving Ferrari a huge Silverstone moment after a long wait.
  • British GP race wrap image
  • Leclerc started fast, controlled the race, and stayed calm while the fight behind him kept changing.
  • Antonelli looked like he had the pace to chase him down, but after Lap 40 his car issue changed everything.
  • Mercedes traced the problem to the left-front wheel shield, and Antonelli dropped back after extra stops, a penalty, and no points.
  • Verstappen crashed late at Stowe, bringing out the Safety Car and killing the final fight everyone wanted.
  • Hamilton looked set for second, but the Safety Car pit sequence cost him when Russell stayed out and jumped him for P2.
  • Leclerc won, Russell finished second, Hamilton third, and the race ended behind the Safety Car instead of with a proper final-lap shootout.
  • Norris was fourth, Hadjar fifth, Racing Bulls scored big with Lawson and Lindblad, and Alpine got Colapinto and Gasly into the points.
  • Next stop is Belgium. Spa gets the next shot at this championship fight.
