Audi’s Brazil Livery Has a Story Written in the Streets

The green and gold catch your eye. The pattern running across Audi’s R26 tells you exactly where to look next.

Audi’s new look for Interlagos begins with something São Paulo residents might recognize on their walk through the city.

The team’s special Brazilian Grand Prix livery takes inspiration from Piso Paulista, the geometric pavement pattern associated with São Paulo. For Gabriel Bortoleto’s home race, that familiar detail has moved from the sidewalks onto the bodywork of an F1 car.

Both Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg will race with the design this weekend, giving Audi’s two cars a distinct identity for the visit to Interlagos.

The detail beneath the colors

Deep green spreads across the R26’s nose and sidepods, with gold accents breaking up the darker shapes. Black carbon fiber remains visible around the bodywork, while the repeated geometric motif gives the design its connection to the city.

Look along the sidepod and the pattern becomes easier to follow. Darker and lighter sections of green overlap visually, with individual gold shapes picking out the design beneath the large Revolut lettering. The same angular treatment continues along the nose.

That is the detail worth looking for when the cars leave the garage. The colors establish the Brazilian theme; the pavement-inspired pattern makes the tribute specific to São Paulo.

A familiar connection for Bortoleto

The city reference also follows a connection Bortoleto has already described himself. In our earlier story on what São Paulo means to Audi’s Brazilian driver, the familiar patterns of his hometown were part of his explanation of belonging.

Now that connection extends to the car he will drive in front of the home crowd.

This is Audi’s third special livery of its debut F1 season, following alternative designs in Monaco and Singapore. At Interlagos, the inspiration comes from an everyday part of the host city: a pattern people pass over on foot, now carried onto the circuit by Bortoleto and his teammate.
