Audi Turns Singapore’s Heritage Into a Special F1 Livery

Audi’s one-off Singapore design combines a blue-shimmer finish with traditional Peranakan patterns, bringing the host city’s light and heritage onto the R26.

Audi has looked to Singapore’s changing light and cultural heritage for its special livery at this weekend’s Grand Prix.

Revealed on October 5, the design gives the R26 a pale, blue-toned interpretation of Audi’s Titanium Silver Grey. Traditional Peranakan patterns cover sections of the sidepods and rear wing, adding detail to the car’s familiar geometric layout.

The result ties the Singapore appearance to two specific influences: the city’s transition from daylight to an illuminated night, and the cultural traditions that form part of its identity.

A different light on the R26

Audi says the finish was developed with a blue shimmer inspired by Singapore’s lights and reflections. Under the circuit’s floodlights, the team expects its appearance to change as the car moves through its surroundings.

The official reveal images show that pale finish alongside darker bodywork, with the patterned sections standing out around the sidepods and rear wing. Matching decorative surfaces in the architectural backdrop draw attention to those details.

The heritage behind the pattern

Peranakan cultures developed through migration, settlement and intermarriage between newcomers and local communities in Southeast Asia. Their heritage spans several communities and countries, including Singapore, and encompasses distinctive traditions in clothing, ceramics, food and design.

Audi incorporates a traditional Peranakan pattern into the livery while retaining the straight geometric divisions of its established design.

The Singapore identity also extends to Nico Hülkenberg’s and Gabriel Bortoleto’s race suits. A limited-edition adidas collection accompanies the launch as part of Audi’s broader “The Art of Influence” program, which includes fan activities across Singapore and online.

On track, the most visible expression will be the R26 itself, carrying that combination of changing light and cultural detail into the Singapore night.
