Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton occupy the first two positions on Formula 1’s all-time Grand Prix entries list—and two more current drivers rank inside the historical top 10.
Most Formula 1 records measure speed, victories or championships. This one measures longevity.
Following the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso has entered 439 Grands Prix—more than any other driver in Formula 1 history. Lewis Hamilton ranks second with 392.
Together, the two active World Champions account for 831 Grand Prix entries.

Alonso currently leads Hamilton by 47 entries and Räikkönen by 86. Those margins are especially notable because the Spaniard spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons away from Formula 1.
ALONSO’S ROAD TO 439
Alonso made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix.
His record total now spans six officially named constructors and eight separate racing stints:
Minardi (2001) → Renault (2003–06) → McLaren (2007) → Renault (2008–09) → Ferrari (2010–14) → McLaren (2015–18) → Alpine (2021–22) → Aston Martin (2023–present)
That represents 23 Formula 1 seasons across a career that has included two World Championships, two years outside the championship and multiple returns to teams he previously represented.
Six constructors is not presented as an F1 record. The more revealing statistic is the combination of eight separate stints and 439 Grand Prix entries—a career that has continued through several generations of cars, engines and regulations.
Hamilton’s route has been more direct. He debuted with McLaren at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix before moving to Mercedes and, later, Ferrari.
Despite entering Formula 1 six years after Alonso, Hamilton has accumulated 392 entries while also becoming the championship’s record holder for Grand Prix victories and pole positions.

Longer modern calendars provide today’s drivers with more opportunities to accumulate entries than many previous generations. Even so, remaining competitive—and valuable to teams—for this long requires exceptional durability and adaptability.
