Three years after making his F1 debut at Zandvoort as an injury replacement, Liam Lawson returns to the same circuit to replace Isack Hadjar.

Isack Hadjar will miss the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix after sustaining a wrist injury during training. Liam Lawson will move from Racing Bulls to Red Bull for Zandvoort, partnering Max Verstappen in the RB22.

Yuki Tsunoda will take Lawson’s place at Racing Bulls alongside Arvid Lindblad.

HADJAR MISSES HIS PODIUM CIRCUIT

Hadjar’s absence comes one year after he claimed his first Formula 1 podium at Zandvoort, finishing third for Racing Bulls in the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix.

The 2026 race would have been his first appearance at the circuit as a Red Bull driver.

SAME CIRCUIT, SAME ROLE

Lawson’s Formula 1 career began at Zandvoort in 2023 after Daniel Ricciardo broke his hand during Friday practice.

Called in at short notice, Lawson had only one wet practice session before qualifying. He started from P20 and finished 13th in a chaotic race featuring changing weather, red flags and Safety Car restarts.

BACK IN THE RB22

Lawson began the 2025 season alongside Verstappen at Red Bull before returning to Racing Bulls after the opening two rounds.

His latest Red Bull appearance will be temporary, but it creates a rare symmetry: the circuit where Lawson entered Formula 1 as an injury substitute will now host his return to Red Bull in the same role.
